The starting point is a broad idea of innovation – technological, social, material and immaterial – that involves stakeholders in a strong and constant economic development. All the European regions are encouraged to choose how to connect research and the productive and social system. This effort will create an ecosystem in which innovation is pivotal for the territorial development.

The governance model of the Basilicata Region S3 enables the interaction between strategic and operating players. The Basilicata Region S3 has identified five specialization areas corresponding to the strategic sectors for the regional development: Aerospace, Automotive, Bioeconomy, Energy, Cultural Heritage and Creative Industries.
